Soft and Sweet

                                                                          Hello Everyone!
I hope you had a good weekend. We had heavy rain most of the weekend but it was nice and warm at least. I went to an auction sale on Saturday where there was lots of interesting pieces that went pretty cheap.I got a little table and a vintage galvanized cooler for $5 and a mirror for $7 so I was happy with that.I wish I had taken my camera to show you some of the unusual pieces like a buttercup yellow vintage  stove.
Since I didn't take any photos this weekend I am sharing some mosaics that I like from my vast collection!

Hope you all like dishes as much as I do!
Our little green and white toile  guest room.
The blue and white teacups are Spode
Our blue and white guest room-at one time our bedrooms were all  used but alas our children have all grown up .
                                                                      Vintage china
                                                                    I love this teacup.
Some of my teapots and teacups.

Well that's it for today but thank you for visiting me. I am hoping the sun shines soon as I have some painting I want to do before it gets too cold.

Thank you for visiting,
Carolyn

Autumn Rose

                                                                Happy Weekend!
I almost missed this little autumn rose blooming in the garden. I don't know the name of it but it was just one of those little pots of roses that you buy in the grocery store in the winter to enjoy indoors.Did you know you can plant them out in the garden and often split them in two or three piecs and they will bloom all summer and winter over in the garden.
Anyway,I thought I should get some photos of it as I am will soon be missing going out to the garden and picking a bouquet for indoors. Soon, but not quiet yet!
Love these old looking baby boots.

When I was done of my photo shoot the little rose went to it's final home in the vase on my kitchen window sill to be enjoyed.
This hammock came home with me from the 70 mile yard sale last Saturday. It was $4 and still had it new tags on it. I knew I had just the spot for it in between these two old trees by the woods and near the pond.

                                                   Enjoy your weekend!

        Thank you for visiting,

                 Carolyn

Our Early Autumn Garden

                                                               Hello everyone,

Our Autumn days have been lovely here and the heavy rain we had a couple of days has given the garden a pick me up. It is so nice to have the grass so lush and green again..
                                                             Our water fountain.

The annebelle hydrangeas are still giving me pleasure with their beautiful big blooms.

The birdhouse on a shelf on the north veranda.
The sedum Autumn Joy and Annebelle with a burning bush make a nice Autumn combination.
Autumn Joy sedum is so easy to grow and looks good all season long. The bees also are loving it.
Martha's Garden is taking on a fall look as the virginia creeper is just starting to turn red..
Have a seat for awhile and watch the birds.

The Limelight hydrangea has turned a rosy pink now.
A double red hollyhock that I started from seed this year is blooming now.
The phlox has all pretty much  faded now except for the varigated phlox.
An early morning shot with the dew on the mirror behind Martha(statue).
Our sweet angel is still keeping watch.

                                                                          As are these.

Our old boat by the pond.
Now that I have shown you the garden I better get out and take a stroll through it on this lovely sunny day.

I am joining Show and Tell at My Romantic Home today and also at The Rose Garden in Malevik

Thank you for joining me today.

Have a lovely weekend!

Stepping Back

                                                                              Hello everyone,
Last week I went on a field trip for homeschooling families with my daughter and little grandson Lucas to Orwell Corner Historic Village. It was a beautiful sunny day we we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.I took lots of photos so you could come along with me.
This old pump still works but the children discovered that it was a lot more work to get a cup of water then turning on a tap.
We got a little lesson on what a day in school was like in the good old days when one room had children from grades one to ten.

This pot belly stove was the only source of heat. I would be hoping for a seat by the stove.

Next we moved on to the general store and saw many of the things you could buy on a trip to the nearest store.
They had a few dishes that I admired!
In back of the General Store was the merchants home. I liked this cosy dining room.

A pretty bouquet on the kitchen table.
I like the warm glow in this bedroom.

They rented out rooms to dressmakers so this was one of their creations.
This home was not part of the tour but on the property.

                                                     We toured the church.

And saw some old farm machinery.

The farm animals were a big hit with the children.
After our picnic lunch we had a horse and wagon ride ,learned how to make candles and then headed for home.
We had a great day didn't we Lucas???
Today we went to see the play Anne of Green Gables at the Confederation Centre with the same group. I am loving my little field trips! Lucas is enjoying being homeschooled and wants to make sure he can sign his Mom up for another year.

I hope you enjoyed stepping back in time with us.

Take care,
Carolyn
