Whimsy in the Garden

Hello everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed having a few garden tours but also visiting with some of our children and grandchildren who were camping at a lovely campground. They had beautiful fireworks there to celebrate Canada Day.
I did steal a little time out to do a little makeover of an old iron baby crib that I bought for $10. and I enjoyed taking some photos to share with you.
There is so much going on in the garden right now-that I don't want to miss capturing any of it.
I gathered together some fabric, pillows and an old foam mattress and did a little whimsical vignette.
Some bunnies and an old doll carriage and doll added just the right touch of whiimsy.
Now ,it is a charming spot for a cup of tea.

You can enjoy the fragrance of the roses and the pink beautybush behind you while you linger.

This is what I started with.  I didn't paint it because I like the shabby look.

I think a little whimsy in the garden adds a bit of charm-don't you?

As many of you know Prince William and Lady Catherine are visiting our little Island tonight and tomorrow and my sister and I are planning to go into Charlottetown in the morning to see them. My sister has just arrived home from Vancouver for a visit so we will be busy enjoying ourselves!

I am joining Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday-you should see Susan's patriotic porch makeover but of course, there is always lots to see there.I am also joining Cielo for Show off your Cottage Monday at the beautiful house in the roses.

Thank you for visiting,

Carolyn

Have a lovely time with your sister. I hope that you both will get to see Prince William and Princess kate :) :) They talked about her visit to PEI yesterday on the news...and her favorite book "Anne of Green Gables" that brought a big smile to my face :) :) I love that seris by L.M. Montgomery.

I love what you did with the iron baby crib. It's just gorgeous. I like the shabby look, too. Did you add a mattess to it, so peole can actually sit on it? Or is it more for display? Either way, it's beautiful. You did a lovely job with all the extra details :) :)

Have a lovely weekend. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

I just love that old baby crib and carriage. We had an old carriage like that when I was a little girl and we used it for our dollies. You are so fortunate to be able to see Prince William and Catherine. Have fun with your sister! Pamela

What a delightful bit of whimsey in the garden - I especially liked the doll carriage and shabby little lady inside. Just picked up a sweet carriage repro this week and can't wait to put a little scene together with some of my favorite dolls. The baby crib was a great idea - I thought it was a daybed. Enjoy your royal visit - be blessed!

Hi Carolyn,

Love your whimsy little corner. The crib is wonderful, I wouldn´t paint it either. Cute dresses hanging from the tree.

Love the views of the garden too.

Have a nice day,

Your crib is absolutely dreamy, and looks perfect in the garden. I have wanted one for the longest time to put in my sitting room and finally found one - EXACTLY like yours, only I didn't pay $10, I paid $250!!!!!! Oh well, it makes me smile every time I look at it.

Oh Carolyn, I knew I was missing so many gorgeous posts here. It has been such a pleasure going back to read and view what I have missed here. Who needs magazines when we have Carolyn's blog?????
Your vignette in the garden is so lovely. I do love your little iron crib. I found one two years ago and I haven't done anything with it yet. You have such pretty pillows and laces to adorn it.
I have enjoyed spending time here this morning walking through your gardens and looking at your posts of your amazing tablescapes.
I know, I know...I say it all the time...but you are my 'Victoria' magazine!!!
Have a wonderful time with your sister and your trip to see the William and Kate! How awesome that would be!
hugs from here...

Carolyn,
I simply adore your old crib that you created such a delightful outdoor vignette with.
Unfortunately, this was the same baby crib that was mine as a child and when I was in high school, I remember my parent's putting it out to the side of the curb for the scrap man to take.
It does make me sick now! I wish I knew then what I know now!!

Hugs,
Debbie
