An Island Tour

Hello everyone,
I have had a few people ask me about Prince Edward Island lately so I went through some of my old summer pictures. Many of you have seen Anne of Green Gables or Road to Avonlea and wonder if the Island really looks like it does in the movie and so I will share some of my favorite spots in summer.
The little fishing village of Rustico.
I love this home in Knox's Dam. The first photo with the boat is just behind this home.
French River- another fishing village.

Rustico
Grand River in the western part of the Island.
French River again.
Northport-the western end of the Island.
Summerside
Rustico
There are lots of lovely farm homes on the Island
Fort Amherst lighthouse
There are also lots of pretty churches around the Island
another Fort Amherst lighthouse
Lots of beautiful B&B's around the Island also.
Anne of Green Gables house and the church and school are part of Avonlea village -a tourist attraction and I had to show you that we still have some red clay roads  on the Island where you can imagine meeting up with the little red haired Anne driving along the road with Matthew in a horse and buggy!
If you would like to see inside Green Gables and surrounding area click here.

The lighthouse at Victoria by the sea.
Of course we have miles and miles of lovely beaches.
Victoria- a quaint little village has some lovely old homes and nice shops etc.
Well, the sun is going down so our journey has come to an end for today. I couldn't find some of the pics I was looking for but when I find them I will share them.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people of Japan as it is hard to imagine the fear and devastation they are going through.

Thank you for visiting me,

Carolyn.

I really need to get back to the island for another visit. I really missed some great spots like Victoria-by-the-sea and the streets of Summerside when we were there in '08, and of course, your beautiful gardens! Thanks for the tour!

Thanks for the tour~ As I sewed curtains last weekend during a snowy, icy day, I put in the Anne of Green Gables DVD's and thought of you.

On the DVD, the birds were singing, the orchards were blooming, and the creek was just a bubblin'! It was a beautiful day, indeed.

Your photos of your island show your love for your home, just gorgeous!

I also looked at the link from Green Gables. Lovely too! Thank you! :)

I like your blog a lot, and have looked back at your previous posts as well.

I am glad you like it at my blog too.:) Have a nice Sunday! It is early morning in Norway.

Oh Carolyn the photo are lovely and bring back many great memories of our vacation there three years ago. We loved every inch of the Island and hope to return next year for sure. Our plans have us heading to the Victoria on the West coast this April but we prefer your East coast hands down. The beauty of the land and charm of the Islanders is second to none! Oh and the seafood!! You are very lucky indeed.
My heart is breaking for the people of Japan..
Take care!

Hello Carolyn
I have to agree that your province is very pretty with many historical sites of interest.
The thing that remains fresh in my mind from our visit is how friendly the people were.

Thank you for the tour. It was a lovely way to begin my day. Isn't it amazing how many of us are touched by Anne of Green Gables? And probably how many of us dream of coming to your island for that reason? So glad I can at least visit virtually (thank you).

It's been one of my dreams to visit PEI. It just looks SO beautiful! I keep saying that we live so close, here, in southern Vermont, and everyone looks at me like I'm crazy! Well, relative to Los Angeles....

I hope I get there, someday. In the meantime, I enjoy your tours!
