Show & Tell Friday

Hello everyone,
It is hard to believe it is Friday already isn't it? In case you were wondering we did not get the snow storm that was predicted last night although we did get some new snow and then some rain. One thing that is missing most days is sunlight, making it a little harder to get great photos indoors.
The antique christening gown above was one that my 92 year old neighbor was baptized in and it is all handmade. I bought it at an auction sale a couple of years ago when my neighbor was downsizing.

It is on display in a little hallway between the porch and  a downstair bath. Did you notice the beautiful doll house? I was so excited to get it at a thrift store in Maine a few years for $20 - the' little ones' love to play with it.
I love this green and white  toile wallpaper.

I got this iron hook bar down in Maine and painted it white.
I dressed up the little ballet slippers with some roses and baby's breath and hung them beside the gown.
I couldn't resist throwing in a few more rose shots.

Such a dainty soft pink rose.

Well, that is it for me for today but there is lots more to see at My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday so pop in and check it out if you haven't already.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Carolyn

As you probably know, this is all right up my alley! Love the sweet little girl stuff. And you have the perfect backdrop for it. It's so funny to hear you say DOWN in Maine! Ha! Anyway this is all so wonderfully pretty! Especially the gown!

If I were at your house, the um "big ones" might be tempted to play with the doll house too. The gown is beautiful, and it's wondeful that you not only know the history behind it, but it has meaning to you since it's from someone you know. All your pictures are lovely as always.

Hi Carolyn, Those are stunning pictures of the rose. Did you get a new toy, such as a macro lens? I found my own christening gown at my Dad's they other day, I was going to frame it in a shadow box, but yours looks nice on a hanger. Have a great weekend.

Oh Carolyn what lovely Romantic photos. As I have told you before I love your treasures and your style of decorating. I would love to gift you the green transferware cup & matching covered soap dish I had featured some time ago on my blog. It would look so perfect in your guest room or your hallway. We are trying to downsize and since it is the only green pieces I have collected I would be so pleased if you could give them a new home. Please send me your address so I can get it them in the mail to you. Have a good weekend!
Hugs,
Wanda

Another beautiful and inspiring post. The christening gown is lovely, I wonder whether it was made for your neighbour or whether it was a family heirloom worn by previous generations of her family. I love your green toile paper - I think you may have solved a problem for me as far as decorating the master bedroom is concerned:)
