In the Bleak Midwinter!

 Hello everyone,
I have a few more photos I would like to share with you that I took a couple of days ago when it was snowing those big fluffy snow flakes. The photo above is my neighbor's house-it looks so pretty in the snow.
This is also very close to our home-we often walk by here.
This is Carragher's pond that I took some photos of in the fall so I wanted to get some winter shots too.
We got several inches of snow in the last couple of days.
The same pond from a different angle.
Taken from the opposite side of the road where a brook flows through.
I liked the added interest of the old fence posts.

Well as you can see from the above photo we travelled through hills and vales to enjoy the beauty of this bleak but beautiful midwinter day!

I hope you enjoyed coming along for the ride.

Take care,

Carolyn

Oh Carolyn,
Thanks so much for taking us along on a ride through your neighborhood and area. Your neighbor's house is so pretty, all of them are actually. I love the style of them. Your little cottage looks so sweet in the snow, too. (Yesterday's post) Your house is very picturesque, even in the Winter time.
Thanks for the lovely photos!

Now I'm not a winter person, but you make it look beautiful! Your winter is hardly bleak, I call it bleak when the snow is gone and all is cold and brown and dull. Like here!

Bleak, yes, but also gorgeous. Very magical photos, Carolyn! Thank you so much for braving the cold to take them and share them.

I hope your first week of 2011 has gotten off to a fine start.

Hello Carolyn :) It's been a while since I've popped in for a visit ~ these photos are amazing; we too here in Michigan are getting quite a bit of snow ~ all of it disappeared last week when we had warm temps and rain, but now mother nature has decided to bring the snow back. They're saying we could get up to over 9+ inches by the end of Thursday; today we got about 2-3".

Warmest hugs, Brenda

Dearest Carolyn,

Thanks for your visit on my blog. In The Netherlands it was very icy the told me when I called Papa for his 90th birthday at 4:00 AM this morning. Icy and lots of snow.
Prince Edward's Island is by far not as densely populated, so accidents in winter will not be that frequent. It looks fairytale like right now. You got lucky with such great photos; love the fence poles with their snow 'measurements' atop! Unreal...

Stay warm and cozy and enjoy your tea! That's our afternoon ritual every day.
Lots of love,

Winter always looks so beautiful in photos and yours are no exception. We love the beauty of the storm but then there is shoveling the snow, plowing the drive way, and thawing out the heated horse tank. No wonder we look forward so spring. You photos are beautiful especially with the beautiful landscape.

Carolyn,
Just beautiful! Breath taking!
I am one of those rare souls that truly loves winter. The snow outside, the warmth of your home in the evening...
But I am tired of having to drive through every single snow storm to go to work as hospitals don't have snow days. I do long for the time that I will be able to stay at home and enjoy the snow.....

Hugs,
Debbie

Dear Carolyn,

While the snow has melted away in Holland, you are still living in a winter wonderland! It all looks magical; the trees, the pond, the picture of the road. What I like about your island is the space, all the green and the fact it has hills. It looks beautiful!

Lieve groet, Madelief

I'm catching up on blog reading! Love all your beautiful photos of the snow in your region. You have very dramatic changes to your seasons. We have very mild winters where I live in the Riverland region of South Australia and don't get snow.

Carolyn, Your island is beautiful no matter which season. Love the pictures. We don't often have snow in Arkansas. When we do get more than 1" it shuts everything down. Was visiting with my SIL who travels a lot. Asked her if she had ever been to PEI, and she said yes. Said it was beautiful there and loved her time there. It's on my list of places to visit.

Your winter snowy photos are just beautiful Carolyn. I so enjoyed walking/riding along in the fluffy snow. The landscape with the old fence is truly beautiful. The old fence posts do add mystery and beauty to the composition. Lovely bucolic midwinter settings. It looks a bit dangerous on the road however!
