Last Rose of Summer

Hello everyone,

I have been missing for a few days as we are trying to get all our outdoor jobs done as the weather is definitely reminding us that winter is on it's way. the ground was froze this morning and we had some snow pellets a couple of days ago as we were working at garden cleanup. I am happy to say that today we should finish and it is lovely and sunny now. They are predicting rain for the next five days so I will be happy to know we have finished with those outside jobs and I can start doing some Christmas decorating soon.

The shots above were taken this morning in the garden and this will be my last rose of summer.

I love these photos with the ice crystals on the roses.

Now that the garden is past I am ready to move on to Christmas. I have been thinking of having a special Christmas blog since I love Christmas time but haven't decided yet.I have been enjoying the Christmas magazines and am looking for new ideas. What about you are you dreaming of Christmas or is it too early for you yet? I remember when I was a child our tree went up a few days before Christmas and came down shortly after and my parents shopped a couple of days before for one gift for each of us- much simpler then today. Although I think Christmas is way to commercial now and stressful for many, I still love it all!

So now that we have enjoyed the last rose of summer I am already moving on to the next season! Hey, did I just miss fall!...... where did the time go ???

I am joining Cindy at My Romantic Home again for Show and Tell Friday. Thank you Cindy for hosting.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Carolyn

Ciao Carolyn,
che belle le tue rose con i petali rivestiti di cristalli di ghiaccio!
Sembrano "inzuppate" nello zucchero...

Oh, anch'io non vedo l'ora che sia Natale, non parlo d'altro...
...e sto preparando anch'io l'allestimento natalizio per la mia casa!

Un bacio...

Maddy

Morning, Carolyn! Oh, your frost on the rose snap is so beautiful! You should frame that!
We've just returned from our cruise and I thought of you the time we were in Cananda but we didn't have a lot of time! I would have loved to have seen you. Maybe some day we can meet! I love your beautiful country!
Enjoy all your chores!! :) Can you enjoy chores! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

The ice crystal rose is so lovely! And poignant, too.

Fall garden chores are my favorite ones, though I must admit, I prefer planting bulbs to cleaning up!

My husband put our tree up Monday night! I am SO ready for Christmas. I would love to see you have a special Christmas blog. I very much enjoy your holiday posts here.

If you haven't gotten this Christmas magazine yet, I highly recommend it! (I am NOT affiliated in any way)

Carolyn, these photos are amazing! The rose looks just as beautiful as it would without the frost on it. I do love going out after a frost and capturing images like this. I have most of the cleanup done as well. I may leave the rest for Spring, because I caught the flu this week and tomorrow it will be raining, and I don't think I feel up to getting out there to do it today. I think I will continue to stay in until I am well and maybe work on some little projects in here.
I love Christmas and I do believe that this time...Nov 1st until Christmas, is the most magical time of year.
Have a wonderful day cleaning up the garden.
hugs to you...

Hello Carolyn :) Such beautiful photographs of your last pretty rose..I know, seems as if there really hasn't been much of a Fall, except seeing all the leaves falling off the trees. Our front and side yards get completely covered in leaves where you can seen no hint of grass! I simply adore christmas time and can't wait to put up our 2 xmas trees...I do that the day after Thanksgiving, and leave them up until New Years Day.

Warmest hugs, Brenda

Dearest Carolyn,

Indeed, it is way too early for Christmas and it is also too commercialized... Glad that at least in The Netherlands, the south that is... we preserved so far the Saint Nicholas Fest which is on December 5th. A far better way for gift giving in combination with a rhyme that accompanies the gift for a special loved one. Christmas should be a Family oriented time with warmth and peace as its message. Both of us have seen too much while traveling the entire world and therefore don't care at all for all the 'added' commercial fringes that really dilute the essence of Christmas.

Love your frosty rose in this blog; so sad to say goodbye to the growing season. We're supposed to get our first light night-frost this Saturday...
Sunny greetings from Georgia,

Hi Carolyn,

The roses with a layer of frost are very pretty! I am looking forward to Christmas very much, but we celebrate Sinterklaas first! I already changed some decorations in the house, but will do the Christmas decorations a little bit later on in the month.

Enjoy your day!

Lieve groet, Madelief

I love your frosty roses, Carolyn. It's sad to see the end of garden season ~ and yes, you did miss fall. ;-)
I am getting excited for Christmas and have started perusing my Christmas magazines too though I won't actually start decorating until after Remembrance Day. Our tree went up on the 23rd and was taken down on the 26th when I was a child. It was so magical.

I am especially excited about Christmas this year for some reason. I could put up my Christmas tree right now! I'm working on Christmas gifts.

I love your pictures at Christmas time. Can't wait to see what you are going to do this year.

Those icy roses are absolutely amazing and lovely.
For me Christmas seems to be far yet but I am thinking of it because nearly (more or less)this date I will be probably a grand-mother !
So it will be very special for the familly.

Have a nice day, dear Carolyn

That's a beautiful last rose--love the shade of pink and the frost on it. I think your idea of a separate Christmas blog would be a lot of fun. We're still focused on fall here, the leaves have barely turned color...many green leaves still on the tree. We'll be raking til close to Christmas so sometimes it's hard to switch gears!

Hi Carolyn,
As much as I detest ice and snow {except in photos} your rose covered in ice crystals is quite beautiful! The colour is gorgeous. So sad to see the end of blooms. I'm glad to be thinking about Christmas too. I don't much care for Fall; especially November when the limbs have lost their leaves and everything is so dreary. I welcome the sights and sounds of the Christmas season. Don't tell my hubby but I played a Tony Bennett Christmas CD today!

Blessings,
Sandi

Hi Carolyn, Beautiful pictures of the last rose of summer. The frost is delightful. I do like christmas, but it is too soon for me yet. But I cannot wait to see what you are going to post. Take care, Jen.

Hi Carolyn,
What an unusual photo of the rose, I don't think I have ever seen one quite like that.
I love Christmas, more for the decorating and the music and just the joy that I experience at this time of year. I try to stretch it from November clear to New Years Day, just for the pure joy of it. It is one that I have always enjoyed alone, ever since my kids left home. My husband does not care for Christmas, I don't think he has any happy memories of it and he is a guy. He is not sentimental like I am. So I have learned to LOVE it all by myself. This year I do have a couple of friends who are excited to see my Christmas decor and I am going to have them over for tea, that will be fun. Hugs, Cindy
