A Frosty Morn!

Hello everyone,
A couple of mornings ago we had a very heavy white frost. In our garden we even had some pretty thick ice in the birdbath. I grabbed my camera and roamed around the garden taking some shots of frosty blossoms. The Julia Child rose was covered with ice crystals.
Mary rose was too.
Clematis was frosted too.
Rose hips
holly bush
nasturtiums
Frosty monkshood or aconitum arendsii - a late bloomer

Do you see all that white frost on the ground?
This was taken in the evening- I like how the light is hitting them.
Fall colors by the picket fence.
We had our last home and garden tour of the season today as 29 visitors from Japan came on a bus from Prince Edward Tours. In spite of the fact the garden is well past it's prime- they had a good time!
This lovely 89 year old lady came with her daughter (who came to visit us 2 years ago) all the way from Japan. Once again I am so impressed with how young looking Japanese people are. Sorry the photo is blurry because there was not enough light and no flash.
I look forward to sharing our garden again next spring- you all come back now!

Now we are getting some rain and wind but garden clean up will begin in earnest when it clears up tomorrow.
I am joining Cindy again for Show & Tell Friday at My Romantic Home- loads for you to enjoy there.
Have a great weekend
&
Thank you for visiting,
Carolyn
p.s. Somehow, I am so sorry but I accidentally deleted all the links on my sidebar of 'nice places to visit' does anyone know an easy way to fix this, if you do would you please let me know? Thank you!

The frost on the blooms is pretty but it also bids a farewell to our posies for another year. I'm glad your tour went well. It was a cool one today, wasn't it? I hope you have a lovely weekend.

The nature is just amazing but add elements like frost and its beauty is instantly transcended. You captured very well this instant.

Now for your lost links, I am afraid you will have to re do them. When you delete a widget, you loose the datas. Sorry.
Have a nice Sunday

Even though the frost heralds the end of the season for our gardens, seeing them covered in frost, so perfect and crystallized for a moment in time is stunning. Your photos are absolutely beautiful and captured that special moment perfectly! Have a lovely weekend...

Hi Carolyn,

Even with a layer of frost your garden looks beautiful! It's getting colder in Holland as well. Today I was thinking that it would not be such a bad idea to put on some woolen mittens!

The Japanese lady looks very sweet resting in your chair. It's quite a long journey to make all the way from Japan, for a lady of her age.

Wish you a happy weekend!

Lieve groet, Madelief

The frost is so pretty just wish it would notmean snow on way later! I love to see snow but I don't like to be cold. The roses with frost look so pretty. They say the soy and all the fresh fish keep Japanese looking young-makes sense.

I feel so sorry for the poor flowers that are out now, lol. But you've got some really beautiful pictures of them.
Here we had 20F this morning and it was really cold, brrr! We don't want winter yet!!
Hope you have a nice weekend.
Love Elzie

PS! I just loved that Japanese woman that took this old lady to your home. What a great thing to do.

Beautiful photographs. All the flowers do look like they have been covered with sugar - decoration on a cake.

It must have taken a lot of effort and time to grow them. Wish you many years of happy gardening!

Hi Carolyn
What wonderful pictures the frost allowed you to make! But I'm happy anyway that frost hasn't shown up in my garden yet. Winter will be long enough... sniff.
Wow, the old Japanese lady looks really gorgeous for her age.
I wish you a wonderful Sunday on a warm spot in your lovely house.
Take care

I loved seeing the photograph of the Japanese Mother who was able to travel to see your lovely garden...It was very heart warming and gives me hope that my own mother has many more international visits in her yet :)

We had some days with heavy frost here this last winter too, but I couldn't capture it in pictures very well. Your pictures look great, the frosty flowers remind me of the sugar frosted flowers in desserts.
