Whimsy in the Garden

Hello everyone,
We are having an amazing summer here on the Island with lots of sunny hot days(but not too hot) and cooler evenings. It has been awhile since we had a summer this lovely.
Today, I am sharing some whimsy in the garden. Every garden needs a little touch of whimsy don't you think? the little woman above was a gift from my daughters last year and she is sporting my apron and straw hat .
I love this little fairy that moves around the garden.
Our garden is large so we have a few statues to add some interest here and there.
I got this old cement birdbath at the Restore a few weeks ago.

A pretty teacup adds a little whimsy to the garden.
I love birdhouses and find them hard to pass up.

This old iron stove was sitting on the side of the road for junk day a couple of years ago- a little spray paint and a Fairy rose and it added some interest to this corner of the garden.
What could be more charming then a real little fairy in the garden?
I like to have a few birdbaths scattered around the garden.
A mirror behind the statue adds a little intrigue.
I love this birdhouse from tjmaxx.
The same spraypaint on this obelisk draws the eye into this bed.
A place to put some seed for the birds and welcome you into the garden.
The little woman decked out for a wedding- our grandneice and nephew were in a wedding recently and they came to the garden for photos so I thought it would be fun to add more whimsy.
I love this birdhouse also.
Mary tucked into the virginia creeper.
Cute little cement rabbit.

And finally this bicycle from our local Winner's and spray painted pistachio green adds some whimsy as it gets moved around the garden.
Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers for my Mom. It has been a difficult road for Mom as at 87 bowel surgery is always major. I am happy to say that Mom is showing improvement but it will be slow. She still has a tube in to drain her stomach and has not had anything to eat in 12 days except a little sugar and water in her iv. She was smiling today but we are still waiting for that cup of tea-hopefully tomorrow! I pray after going through all that she has, she will make a good recovery and be back at the home where she has lived for the past few years.
Thank you so much from Mom and I for your kindness. I have not had much time for playing with my camera lately but these are some pics from over the summer.
Take care,
Carolyn

Dearest Carlolyn,

Priority, above the Whimsy... is your Mom and I am glad to read she is managing so well, considering her age and the major impact of such a surgery! May God continue to bless her with the strength and the PATIENCE for slowly recovering from this. For every day in the hospital, at that age, it will take probably weeks to fully restore health back to the stage before (without the ailment that is). So Patience is a tough thing but with love and attention she will get there. And she's lucky with such a daughter who cares already so much for her garden; what must that mean for the loved ones in her life...
Love the garden pictures, you truly have many areas to place these things. Love the 'Live' fairy and the bike...

Lots of love and likewise sunny and warm greetings from Georgia/USA

Hey Carolyn ~ First of all, I will be sending up prayers for your mom. I know how difficult it is to be tending to an aging parent, and you have alot of support out here in blogland. :) Second, of all - your garden is just breathtaking. I could wander around in it all day long. Your magical touch is so evident and beautifully displayed. :) Glad to hear that you're having the perfect summer up there. Down here it's been hot and humid and just dreadful for our flower gardens. So.....I'll just sit back and enjoy yours!

Carolyn, so sorry to hear about your Mom, but things can go well with that type of thing. I'm sitting (right now) in a motel, awaiting my MIL's bowel surgery tomorrow morning. She had an illeostomy put in because of a bowel blockage in April, and is having it reversed tomorrow! What a blessing that will be to us all! I will keep your mother in my prayers too. Sandi

Seniors do take longer to recover but many of them do make full recoveries...and she has lots of people praying for her...and you.

Your gardens are as beautiful as always.I never tire of looking at them.

Oh Carolyn, everything is so beautiful in your garden. I love the old stove and the color you painted it and the obelisk is my favorite blue for the garden. You have so many interesting additions to the garden and everywhere one looks there is a surprise. I love that in a garden.
What amazing photos you have taken this Summer in your garden. It is such a treat for me to come here and see what you will post next.
I read your previous post about your mother and I do hope that she heals quickly and feels better very soon.

Wunderschöne Gartenimpressionen. Dein Elfengarten schaut einmalig aus. Aber das kleine blonde Elfenmädchen finde ich am besten. Sie schaut so süß in ihrem Kleidchen aus.

I'm so glad your mum is recovering - slow as it may be. She is SO going to enjoy that cup of tea when she's allowed it!
Thank you for taking time out to show us more photos. Your blog has been so much an inspiration (I believe I've said that many times now) that I'm having a pergola built in our garden, based on your beautiful one (I hope you don't mind my using the idea. It's not going to look exactly the same, just 'inspired by', and when it's finished and I show the pics on my blog, I will post a link to your site and let everyone know what gave me the idea in the first place.
Blessings,
Andi
