Touring the Island

Hello everyone,
I hope you are enjoying these lovely summer days. I have been playing tourist and enjoying some of the beauty close to home the past few days.
I will take along -through my photos.
The above photo was taken shortly before sunset on a beautiful evening in the little fishing village of North Rustico.
A close up of the same shot above.
The lighthouse in the same village.
The deep sea fishing boats coming in for the night.
Just leaving the village-the water was so peaceful.
The next day I went with a friend to the French River area.I am not sure what the crop is growing in these fields but it looked so pretty.
This is one of the most photographed fishing harbors on the Island.
This lighthouse is near Springvale-where we went for a walk on the beach.
Red rock cliffs.
The following day my husband had to see a client in Summerside, so of course I had to go along. these are charming little summer shops along the harbor that I enjoyed strolling in and out of.It was another beautiful sunny day with a beautiful sky.
The Summerside marina is just behind the shops.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch upstairs in a pub overlooking the marina -watching the sailboats go by.
It was so beautiful to sit out there that I would have enjoyed it even if the food wasn't good but it was delicious.
I saw lots of beautiful summer homes along the way. I love the privacy and the amazing few of this one with it's weathered grey shingles.
We passed by the birthplace of Lucy Maude Montgomery auther of the famous Anne of Green Gables books.
It has a charming porch.
And we enjoyed sitting by the seaside reading a good book. We don't have any tours for awhile and with summer getting shorter I am enjoying being a tourist on our own fair Isle!
I hope you enjoyed touring along with me!
Thank you to all who have visited me lately and left such nice comments-I enjoy hearing from you.
Take care,
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
Your photos are wonderful! Each one gives the visitor a peek at our lovely Island scenery. I love the red cliffs and the fishing villages! But the photo of the little shops in their ice cream colours is what really caught my eye! Beautiful! Enjoy being a tourist.

I love the lighthouses! Our oldest son was born while we were living in nothern Maine on an Air Force Base. When I come across a lighthouse Christmas ornament that is especially neat I buy it for him.
Wonderful pictures!!

Dearest Carolyn,

That looked like you were IN the book of Anne of Green Gables! What a lovely island when the winds are calm, as shown on that one perfect photo... Enjoy the remainder of summer because not for long and we have to take a deep breath till next sunny season...

Oh, Carolyn, your island is utterly charming! The chances of me getting there anytime soon are slim so your tour is that much more welcome and enjoyable. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us! It's so beautiful!

Hi Carolyn,
Thank you for sharing your magical island with us...I am so jealous you can enjoy such loveliness this time of year...Here in Florida it is too hot to do much more than check on the chickens at dusk and then come back into the A/C to hide from the heat again...But your pictures are so cool and refreshing, makes me yearn for fall to arrive.

Gasp! That's it-- now I'm determined to visit PEI as soon as possible!
I was just telling another PEI-blogger that I've been so intrigued by your little island lately, I've recently just picked up Anne of Green Gables and am really enjoying it so far! :) ♥

Carolyn, what a wonderful tour on your beautiful island. My husband is a radio ham and he asks whether the lighthouse will be on the air this weekend as it is "Lighthouse on the air" this weekend for all of them all over the world. Do you know if there are any radio hams on the island?

Thank you for the lovely comment on my blog. Jackie in Surrey

I remember being at Summerside when my brother and I were kids. We collected clams on the beach. My mom had a friend who she chummed with in the airforce that had a store there and lived in a former senators cottage. I would like to see it again some day soon. Thanks for the tour.

So sometime explain to us where the house was in the movie Anne of Green Gables. It was much bigger -maybe a "set" not real? This house looks very small - not the same. Thank you for these lovely photos.

Beautiful photos!!! I love all of them and I especially enjoyed the photos of Summerside. That's where my friends are holidaying at this very moment. Lovely, lovely scenery and homes, so lovely!

Isn't it fun to play tourist in your own area sometimes? To see it through the eyes of a newcomer or visitor? I am always given a fresh appreciation when I visit our Door County. It is almost like playing "make-believe" Diana

Carolyn,
This was wonderful! Thanks for taking us on a tour of the island. I had never seen pics of L.M. Montgomery's house. I think I remember that light house though from Anne of Green Gables. It all looks marvelous.

Hi Carolyn,
Another lovely post. I was in North Rustico this time last year, and that light house you posted is in my Auntie-in-law's backyard!
