Garden Tour

                                                            Hello everyone,

We had a lovely garden tour today and I thought you might like to come along! It is overcast calm and a little cool - so a good day to see the garden, I think. I am checking out the hillside garden-it does have a few weeds but hopefully nobody cares!
We had a lovely group of 35 from Japan today and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. One visitor handed me some photos of our garden that she took last year when she was here-great to have repeat visitors!
They enjoyed Martha's garden-the deutzias are just starting to bloom.
the viburnum, lupin and iris look pretty together.
The first of our lilacs are still blooming but will soon be past.they will be followed by the Preston Lilacs developed in Canada and then the Japanese ivory silk lilacs. I am happy to stretch out the lilac season.
Our hosta bed under the trees has filled in nicely.
The honeysuckle vine on the cottage has a lovely fragrance as does the Dame's Rocket(mauve and white phlox like flower)
There has been a lot of growth in the last couple of weeks.

I bought this tree peony a few years ago and I love the large papery blooms it has.
This is an early peony that my Dad gave me many years ago and it has been divided several times. The color is really a little darker then this in real life.
A few hardy roses are blooming-this is Terese Bugnet

I love this Geurnsey Cream clematis. It is in it's third year so it is putting on more of a show this year.

The lupin and allium look pretty together.
                         .

And now it is time to say goodbye- you all come back now!!!

Hope you enjoyed the tour-we have another tour Wednesday morning so I may be missing for a couple of days.

Heat/humidity here, Atlanta, over 100f. Your garden is cool respite.

Seeing your dress, today, do you know the clothes by Magnolia Pearl? You will love them. I do.

Alas, pricey.

Have you filmed your garden? Yourself, not anything professional.

My garden has been on TV and that is fine with a camera man & producer but I'm curious about DIY.

As usual, beautiful, beautiful! Your garden is so inspiring. Do you have deer? I see all your lovely blooms and think my In-laws' property would do well with some of the same plants, but the deer would decimate just about anything we would plant. Always enjoy my "visits" to your lovely garden, thanks for sharing.

What a lovely tour. Japanese people are so funny about picture taking. I have been in parks in Vancouver where we were constantly being stopped because they were taking photos of each other or we were walking in front of them as they tried to take photos of each other. You must have a lot of fun on those tours. I love your get up, you look so pretty and feminine. And I'm sure they had a magnificent time!

Hi Carolyn! Oh, I guess you do have regular tours of your gorgeous gardens! What a treat for all your visitors and for us too! Your flowers are just amazing as well as how you've placed your beds. Your little summer cottage is precious.
Look at you! You're as pretty as a picture and that photo of you looks like something from a magazine! The cover even!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Dearest Carolyn,

What a nice visit from the Japanese in your lovely garden! I have been lucky to have visited Japan in 2007 and they are master gardeners and very much so in the details. But your garden looks also perfect and so lush. Hard to achieve that in the southeast here...
BUT a surprise for you: please have a look on my blog!

Lots of love from Georgia/USA

Dag Carolyn,
Wat een prachtige tuin tour. Mooie foto's.

Carolyn, your garden is the loveliest ever. I only wish I could see it in person. Your garden attire is just perfect! It is in the high 90's here with humidity to match. Your garden looks so cool and inviting, thanks for taking us on the tour.

Hi Carolyn,

I enjoyed your garden tour! It must be special to show all those garden enthusiasts around your garden. I always love to talk about the flowers and plants and can imagine you do as well. You look lovely on the photo. Almost English :-)! Is that your husband beside you? You make a fine couple!

I will be sending a parcel for your mother soon. I will keep you posted through the mail. Good luck with your next tour!

Lieve groet, Madelief

This time of year in N FL my garden looks really poor. It is such a pleasure and an inspiration to visit your blog. Oh how I wish we could grow peonies and lilacs here. Yesterday afternoon I got in my car after leaving the grocery and my car was showing an outside temp of 109*. YIKES!!! Very little plant material can survive those temps and I am not one to grow lots of tropicals.

I do enjoy visiting your blog. It takes me to a different place. I truly appreciate you sharing with us your garden.

Gogeous Garden tour. I especially love the peonies. And if I didn't know any better, the elegant picture of you in your garden tour outfit looks like a movie still of Susan Sarandon in some old romantic film. What a lovely time you must have had ;)
Many Blessings,
Molly
