Hallway Makeover

Hello everyone,

I have been missing for a few days because I am trying to get some projects done before spring arrives and hopefully garden season. I actually had a few snowdrops blooming in the garden the end of February and that never happens here in our zone 5b garden! Unfortunately, we got a few centimeters of snow since and they are buried again-poor things.

Anyway, some of you may remember that we had to strip 21 double rolls of wallpaper off and then paint woodwork ,walls furniture, frames etc. I think my husband was afraid to sit still in case he got a coat of paint!

I found the wooden oval mirror at Second Glance. I think it was perfect for there.

My husband ripped off the old carpet and we had new carpet installed called Driftwood-it is a little lighter then in the photos.

I found two of these tin photos at Winners. They where brown so I painted them Victoriana (Ralph Lauren) the same as the stairs and woodwork.

This is the hallway going to our bedroom. We painted the walls Golden Ecru from Manor Hall.

This is an old picture of the stairway before- I had to force myself to post this one because it didn't really look this bad but it was the only one I could find!

Well, that is one of our projects but our livingroom is undergoing a big makeover as well so I will share that with you later.

I am joining in for Show and Tell Friday again and thank you Cindy for hosting. I am sure you all know Cindy but if not, you are in for a treat when you visit her at My Romantic Home!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend

&

Thank you for visiting me.

Looks lovely and so much more open without the paper!
Have a great weekend and come visit me at my blog if you get a second. :)

I began to wonder where you were--and then of course, the projects. It looks tremendous and I can't believe you stripped all that wallpaper. I hope it was sized well so that you didn't have to scrape much.

Both the entryway and the staircase look fabulous. I love the tin picture. I've got to ask is the urn and cherub just sitting freely on the post? Or is it attached? I love it there.

Dear Carolyn,
what wonderful pictures again! You had a lot of work, but the result is sooooo beautiful, so lightful.
Just a few month I talk about such a work to my husband, but he doesn`t like to hear at this ear!!! So I think, once I do it by myself.
I wish you a very nice weekend

It's so beautiful! I think that y'all did a wonderful job on transforming your stairs and the paint on the walls looks so much better to me than the wallpaper! Looks so much larger too. I love how you painted the mirror and the frames to match the staircase. I bet you smile every time you walk up those stairs!

Hello Carolyn
After wall papering our entire first house then having to strip it to paint, I can sympathize with what you just went through.
The only room with wall paper in the home we're in now is the kitchen and it is due for a makeover too.
I really like the colours you've chosen which compliment the character of your older home.
I see you and Cindy both paint over items you buy with unique results - this has me thinking....

Hi Carolyn,

You have done a good job! Your hallway looks very peaceful and stylish. I love the colour you chose and the way you decorated the walls with the mirror and prints. It must have been an enormous job. We have done some work in the house today as well. Jan has painted the bathroom walls and I have done the French doors of Annebelle's bedroom. I am so glad I have the time now! I did not regret my decision to stop blogging so far. There is much more time left now to read a book, work in my garden and in the house. And I can still visit your blog and leave a comment :-)! Hope you are all well.

Enjoy your sunday! From a sunny Rotterdam,

Lieve groet, Madelief

Treasia,
The cherub is just sitting there for now to see if we like it but it will be attached if it is staying there.
