My Transferware Collection and Santa

Hi everyone,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend and are ready for a brand new week! Do any of you have snow yet? I am looking forward to just a few inches of some fluffy white snow some time soon. Our mild weather seems to have left us so maybe soon we will have that winter wonderland.

Anyway, today I have opened my cupboard doors to show you my red and white transferware. Some of you were wondering where I kept all my dishes so this is where a good portion of it is kept but I will show the rest of my storage places later. Somehow, one of my favorite father Christmas's got in the way first-so did you notice his red and white toile coat?I think he was made for me!

ho ho ho!

It is hard to avoid a glare on the glass so I will open the doors.

a closer look

The red and white willow dishes belonged to my husband's great aunt.

We use a wood pellet stove to help heat our home.

I am slowly adding a piece here and there to my collection although I have to confess it is a few pieces smaller after a tragic accident of a dish falling down and sending a few plates to smash on the floor. Now I will have to do a mosaic!

Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Carolyn

Love the transferware -- the red is certainly lovely and certainly looks like Christmas What a great way to display it! Mine is mostly hidden away behind unmirrored doors!

Dear Carolyn,
December Blessings to you!

December is just hours away and I have the excitement of a child!!!
Love this time of the year with all of the decorating and celebrating the Lord Jesus's Birthday.

Your Santa is perfect for you with the fabric he has on!

The dishes are lovely and I'm so glad you've shared with us.

Love your cabinets and the order you display. This all looks so pleasant and inviting. I'll be celebrating and dancing when I can have order in all my rooms after the remodeling gets completed.

For now, I enjoy seeing others order. It's inspiring for me.

God bless,
d

Hi Carolyn, You have quite a collection of transferware! It looks very pretty in your kitchen cupboard. You have a lot of space to store all those beautiful items. So handy! I hope you will get some snow soon. The weather in Holland has been very mild as well, with a lot of rain and wind. However, today it is much colder. I think it is seven degrees celcius now. I look forward to snow as well, but I don't think we will get any this week :(

Happy new week!

Lieve groet

Your red and white transferware is so pretty! I'm sorry to hear about some of them breaking. It reminds me of a time when I was a young girl and I was putting away my mother's nice everyday china - it was a stack of plates - and they slipped out of my hands.
Oh dear . . . They seemed to slide off one by one in slow motion and I just watched, paralyzed in horror. Thankfully, my mom was not cross but she must have felt badly. I was glad it wasn't her good china :)

How I wish I had half of your collection of red transferware!
I love it!
Your display is beautiful!
And that santa is a perfect addition to your collection!

Carolyn you mentioned you heat with a wood pellet stove....we have a coal burner which is huge and ugly and not what I'd want in my victorian parlor!
I would love to switch to a pellet stove....do you have any dislikes about yours...and does it heat your whole house? Any info you could send my way would be greatly appreciated! I love getting imput from someone whom actually uses them instead of a salesmen! :-)

Have a beautiful day,
Hugz, Dolly

P.S. No snow here in michigan...I hope it waits until I am finished shopping! :-)

Carolyn, your red and white transfer ware is fabulous. How fortunate to have your husband's great aunt's set of red willow. I don't know that I've seen red willow before. I'm very envious of your red and white dishes. Thanks for showing this. Love the Father Christmas in his red toile. Perfect! I'm off to see some of the other posts using your red and white.....Sarah
